The Crescent University, Abeokuta, CUAB has beaten other nursing institutions in the 2026 edition of Florence Nightingale Essay and Speech Contest in the state. While Roqeebat Onigbanjo ranked among the top five best at the final stage, coming second, Aishat Jubril came fourth. Students from twelve institutions offering nursing in the state submitted entries for the contest. Thirty-three essays were shortlisted after stages of screening with Onigbanjo from CUAB scoring the highest points at the stage. Twenty-nine contestants advanced to the semifinal in the quiz category.

Vice Chancellor, CUAB, Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila presented winners to to the Proprietor and Chairman Board of Trustees, of CUAB,  Prince Ma’aruf Adesegun Ajibola SAN and other members of the university management. Ajibola, while receiving the Crescent team, expressed heartfelt congratulations to the head of department and the students for their stellar performance year in, year out. The Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr Tomi Coker, among several other creme-de-creme of the health sector witnessed the contest. The university team was led by Head of Department of Nursing, Dr Shafiu Adewole Ademola and supported by other lecturers and students.
