All roads literarily led to the Ijemo Town Hall in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital as the Special Assistant to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Agriculture, Hon. Olarenwaju Showunmi was conferred with the chieftaincy title of "Dagunro" of Ijemoland. Fondly called LASEM by his admirers, Showunmi was said to have been so honoured In recognition of his outstanding service and deep ancestral roots in Ijemoland. The recognition underscores Abiodun’s aide dedication to creating positive change and empowering youths in Ijemo land and beyond.
Showunmi, in his acceptance speech, appreciated the Ijemo Traditional Chiefs for finding him worthy of the honorific chieftaincy title. While pledging his total loyalty and continued commitment to the service of the people, the new "Dagunro" also promised to remain a true people’s servant and an agent of good governance. “As I assume this new role, I seek the cooperation, prayers and support of all and sundry for our dedication to take Ijemo land to a greater height and to contribute to the development of the community”. " I also want to appreciate the traditional chiefs for finding me worthy of this title, I am so elated and I promised not to disappoint them” he concluded. In attendance at the event that held last Saturday were notable politicians within and outside Abeokuta South Local Government Area of the state. Prominent among them was the Alawo Erin of Egbaland, Chief Chief Nurudeen Olaleye.
